325 yılında İznik Konsili sonunda kabul edilen dua hala küçük değişikliklerle tüm kiliselerde (Katolik ve Ortodok) okunan en önemli duadır. 381 yılında İstanbul’da toplanan Konsil’de duada küçük değişiklikler yapılır. En önemli değişiklik; tekil şahıs yerine çoğul kullanılmasıdır; “İnanıyorum” yerine ”inanıyoruz” denir. Bundan dolayı da "İznik-İstanbul Kredosu" da denir.

Görünen ve görünmeyen varlıkların Yaratanı,
Yeri ve göğü yaratan Her şeye
Kadir Tanrı Baba’ya inanıyorum. 
Tanrı’nın biricik Oğlu tek Rab
Ve ezelde Baba’dan doğmuş olan
Mesih İsa’ya inanıyorum.
O Tanrı’dan gelen Tanrı, Nur’dan Nur, 
Gerçek Tanrı’dan Gerçek Tanrı’dır. 
Yaratılmış olmayıp, Baba ile aynı özdedir 
Ve her şey onun aracılığıyla yaratılmıştır. 
Biz insanlar 
Ve bizim kurtuluşumuz için gökten inmiş,
Kutsal Ruh’un kudretiyle vücut bulmuş Bakire Meryem’den doğmuştur.

Pontius Pilatus döneminde bizler uğruna çarmıha gerilmiş,
Acı çekerek ölmüş, gömülmüş 
Ve Kutsal Kitaplarda yazıldığı gibi
Üçüncü gün sonra dirilmiş
Ve göğe çıkmıştır. 
Baba’nın sağında oturmaktadır. 
Dirileri ve ölüleri yargılamak amacıyla 
şanla yeniden gelecek 
ve hükümdarlığının sonu gelmeyecektir.

Peygamberlerin ağzıyla konuşmuş olan
Baba ve Oğul’dan çıkıp, 
Baba ve Oğul ile birlikte tapılan ve yüceltilen, hayatın kaynağı 
ve Rab olan Kutsal Ruh’a inanıyorum. 
Havarilere dayanan, Katolik (Evrensel) 
ve Kutsal olan tek Kilise’ye inanıyorum. 
Vaftiz olunarak günahların bağışlanacağını kabul ediyorum. 
Ölülerin dirilişini ve ebedi hayatı bekliyorum. Amin.

I believe in one God,
the Father almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the Only Begotten Son of God,
born of the Father before all ages.
God from God, Light from Light,

For us men and for our salvation
